WOW, what an experience. We stayed at the Hotel Amsterdam. As part of our stay, we were offered a glass of sparkling wine plus an aperitif. My wife and I were seated by the window and given our complimentary glass of sparkling wine, and then an aperitif, which was, tomato with mozzarella cheese and basil pesto. Wow what a taste sensation, it was so delicious. My wife and I are vegetarian so we ordered the "Salad of grilled vegetables and sheep’s cheese". Wow again with the taste, it was fantastic and so delicious. My wife continued to drink the sparkling wine while I changed to a red wine which is my favourite. Both were very nice. Again because we are vegetarian we chose the "Mushrooms, Brie tempura, tian of vegetables". Wow again. This main meal was so tasty and delicious. The chef's really know how to use spices and mix in food types. Our entire dinner experience wouldn't have been the same without the true experience and professionalism of Jose, our waiter. Jose has 20 years experience at this restaurant and absolutely has passion for what he does. he treated my wife and I with excellent service, fun and laughter, and top class service. Our entire experience with this dinner was 5 stars and 100%. me being a former chef, I can also recommend this restaurant with such an amazing taste of food. if you visit this Amsterdam, you must try Restaurant De Roode Leeuw. We visited September 2016.

I thought initially that this is just yet another hotel restaurant but glad tah I was wrong. 3 courses at affordable price and taste/looks as good as with 2 times more expensive places.

Steak was very dry and cold and almost impossible to cut (let alone eat). Soup was not that tasty. The only compliment I can give was for the duck (chefs recommendation) and the ambience is quiet and cozy. Dine at your own risk.

Came here when I was last in Amsterdam and absolutely adored it! The staff were so friendly! The food and coffee was amazing! Have recommended it to several friends when they're next in Holland! Keep it up and hope to be back again soon! :)
