  Not a welcoming, friendly, or energy-giving experience on my first visit there. I showed up to the Friday afternoon breathing class as I was seeking this specific kind of class and was met by the owner. As I walked in the door and before a "hello and welcome to our studio," she pointed out that I was new and told me this class wasn't for me. I explained that I was new to the school but not yoga. She then suggested I try some of the other beginner classes before doing this one as this one was focused on breathing. I told her that's exactly what I was looking for and that I was in fact not a beginner. Then she challenged me by asking where I'd studied and with whom, as she informed me, she knew most Iyengar teachers in amsterdam. And I could not remember names of teachers. So then she told me to try a Tuesday morning class with props. I informed her that I don't need props. And this whole experience ended with her suggesting I sign up for a month and try out the classes and get to know the teachers before coming to this particular class. Apparently it's not open to new students of the school or if you're new, you need to bring a CV with experience and teachers. It would have been helpful to know the prerequisites in advance but there was no clear note on the website. I only saw that I needed half a year of yoga experience. I have 20 years. I felt judged upon walking in the door and there were a lot of assumptions about my experience and needs. I would have much appreciated a warm "welcome to the studio" and perhaps some friendly curiosity about my experience, needs and interests before the assumptions, and before telling me it's not for me. At least, that's what I'd expect from a yoga school. In the end, I was turned away and left feeling frustrated, drained, and disappointed. It was quite unfortunate as I'd come in need of a restorative, energy-giving class. If this says anything about the rest of the yoga experience at this school... I believe in second chances and I might give this school another go, but for the moment I prefer a warmer welcome and start to my yoga experience.

  Wat is meesterschap? Ontmoet Eigenares Kristien en de andere Leiders Linda, Floortje, Nancy, Adela, Jacco en Kerry. iyangarjoga werd mij door de bedrijfsarts geadviseerd. De dokter had er niet bij gezegd dat je eenmaal op het matje gezeten, even drie keer oem zou zingen? Dacht het niet, ben toch Europees? Ik deed echter, als vanzelf mee. Oem is prettig gebrom, ook om te horen en het heeft zin. Hoe kan dat? Door het natuurlijke overwicht van elke leraar/es. Dat is nog maar de lesaanvang, het begin. Na vijfendertig jaar Taekwondo, herken ik mijn meester die je naar een hoger nivo brengt: -zweven -je zelf ontsteigen -pijn leiden over heen komen en dat als prettig ervaren -emoties voelen en laten -(innerlijke)rust. Voor mij persoonlijk komt nu het allerbelangrijkste, wat ik graag wil delen, wat echt niet in elke school te vinden is. Ik heb allang in mijn leven bewezen dat ik door kan zetten! Grenzeloos, tot reuma kwam. Nu dus met plezier joga ,voor mij rustig aan.Let wel, ik rek en strek me tot duizelen toe. Het knappe is, dat deze leraren, ieder voor zich, zien, wanneer ik iets een tijdje langzamer, anders mag doen, of even een tandje minder. Dit gaat meestal zonder woorden en als er uitleg komt, is die zo precies, dat ik er zelf netter van ben geworden..Haha.Daar heb ik vijftig jaar over gedaan.In mijn lagere schoolrapport stond al: ''Wiesje is wat slordig". Dat heb ik overwonnen.

  What a great lesson last night! Really good sequences. I could literally feel my body opening and extending more and more as the lesson went on. The effect after was wonderful! I felt so happy, relaxed and de-stressed. Thanks Kristien.

  Zeer inspirerend team van integere, 'open-minded' docenten! Heel fijne collega's, ieder met een persoonlijke aanpak, maar door fascinatie voor Iyengar-yoga verbonden. Ik ben er kind aan huis en voel me altijd welkom.

  Extremely knowledgable and caring teachers with classes targeted to all levels of experience. A very welcoming, friendly and relaxed environment. Beautiful large and airy studio with the added comfort of underfloor heating and a vast array of props to accommodate all needs. If a hygienic environment is high on your list of priorities then the modern foot bath station will be an added bonus as to the knowledge that all mats are cleaned after each class. I can't recommend this studio highly enough....come try, I'm sure you'll be happy that you came.
