It is bad, as it does not let people in without a Diploma or English speaking without a diploma. Like the old days, you can tough unfortunatly not anymore.

I studied Masters in Applied Linguistics(TESL) here. Loved the atmosphere and the professors. Very approachable and always helpful. Being an international student I found myself at home.

Great university and delivered some fine and outstanding scientists. Message to university board: stop putting money in worthless elite student clubs!!!!! They are a blow to the reputation of GU.

The university itself is filled with diversity and nice social interactions. However, the teachers lack many skills and the university has many ugly and disappointing features. The classes are divided into tutorials and lectures. Tutorial are taught by students, which is not the most professional preference. I did learn a lot more from the students than the actual accredited lecturers. One of my lecturers was Chinese who barely spoke english in an english taught bachelor. He gave me a failing grade because he didn't understand my answers, which were both clear, critical, and correct. He shut me down when I confronted him about my correct answers. You are not allowed to miss the tutorial classes, which is really uncanny. I had a high fever once and contacted one of my teachers regarding my absence, and she directly forwarded me 3 weeks of work as punishment for my absence. I ended up going to the class, barely able to move. After seeing my critical condition, she allowed me to go home. What a waste of time and utter stupidity from a university. The lecturers offer slides which are found in the university websites. You would expect the lecturers to explain the slides, but would literally spend two hours reading off the slides with a 0-5% of him/her actually teaching and explaining the slides. This makes the lectures a waste of time. It is permissible to skip the lectures, which i sometimes did. Then i was screwed over with questions in the exam like this: "I talked about something in lecture 4 and gave this picture an example, which picture was it (worth 10 points):" An extremely childish and biased grading system which loses the actual meaning of fair grading. I was studying the bachelor of International business, and from the brochure, i expected a practical, creative, and theoretical study. I did not receive practical nor creative aspects in this study. It was 100% theory and memorization. The moment you add an ounce of creativity, then you get a failing grade. I remember coming out of an exam which is supposed to be 90% practical. The exam consisted of offering a case study and your evaluation of it. I remember acing the exam with my creative approaches to different business, but was shocked when i saw my grade. I received a 29 % because my answers were not copy paste from the book. I did not know i was majoring in biology or law, where my answers were supposed to be copy and paste. This is international business, which is about studying multinational companies going abroad. I was completely disappointed with this factor.
