  The Entrepotdok lock is a short connecting water between the Nieuwe Vaart and the water of the Entrepotdok, which had a different water level. on top of it, the sturdy steel bridge was later built around 1900; for a bridge from Amsterdam it has a fairly long bridge deck. The water underneath with the lock had to be wide enough to allow the V.O.C. ships to pass from the Nieuwe Vaart to the many warehouses of the Entrepotdok, to be unloaded and hoisted there. The bridge still connects the two halves of the Heights Kadijk.
