If I could give 0 stars I would. We booked a motorhome, a 2001 Fiat Ducato, for a 6 month trip with Harro. All arrangements were made online and we paid everything that was invoiced to us prior to our arrival. When we arrived in Amsterdam Harro told us he forgot to add 1000 Euros to our invoice. Out of good faith, we paid him. A couple months later we were in a bad accident and the insurance provided by Happy Camper/Camper Fun didn’t accept our claim because we did not speak german. From that moment on our relationship whit Happy Camper/Camper Fun changed for the worse. Our main contact, Harro, was no where to be seen and avoided our calls and we started dealing with Wietze, Harro’s father. Of course we were upset that Harro disappeared and acted frustrated at times, but who wouldn't after an accident and your rental company leave you out to dry. We couldn't even get the car repaired back to its original state and were forced to pay over 1,500 Euros for an emergency repair which Harro advised us to get done. We had ups and down with the motorhome besides the accident we also had problems with the starter, which we replaced and NEVER GOT REFUNDED. We paid 200 Euros for a mechanic in Croatia to fix it. Now, were not only out of that money, but our entire deposit as well. We never expected to get the full deposit back, but we did expect at the very least to get reimbursed for the starter we paid for and $200 of the tow bill which was promised by Harro. It’s been 2 weeks since we have returned the motorhome and it’s been hard to communicate with them. We actually called to find out about getting a portion of our deposit back and we were hung up on! A couple days ago they sent an email and when we tried to call to work it out Wietze hung up on us and now he won’t take our call anymore. We want to work out the refund at least of the starter and the tow truck, which insurance covers part of it. This is a family owned but not very reliable company. I would seriously advised against hiring their services. Accidents happen and if we could go back in time we would have hired someone that replied our calls. Most important thing- do not trust Harro, Wietze or the "insurance" they provide. Unless you speak German you will have to pay for the repairs yourself. When returning the Van we knew this was going to happen. Wietze told us to "trust him" even demanding that I said over the phone that I trusted him. Well we trusted him and we got screwed. Find another company. There's plenty of them out there with better campers and WAY better service. He has insulted us with comments such as "I thought you guys speak English and understood what Harro told you to do" and "Because Mike only wants to talk on the phone he didn’t know how to act, and now he denies it! This is the result. And now you guys blame me?" - Weitze As you can see his English writing is very confusing and this is why I wanted to talk on the phone. I'm sure they'll respond to this with some fired up comment about how we were rude. Well, when you STEAL someone's deposit it's quite upsetting. 0 stars.
