  Die Port van Cleve is an historical hotel in the centre of the centre of Amsterdam, walking distance from Central Station. The rooms are a bit dated but nice, some street noise. The bathroom is completely renovated, very good. The staff is very friendly, their own bar De Blauwe Parade and restaurant Hulsscher with the famed numbered steaks (now into the 5 millions!) is interesting too. Overall a good option to stay at.

  My wife and I arrived 16 April for a 3 night stay. Marcos on reception was so welcoming and helpful. We ate in the restaurant that evening and our waiter Paul couldn't have been more friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the numbered steak my wife sea bass... wonderful. Not too keen on Dutch breakfasts but all in all the hotel so centrally situated was very good value for money.

  Very helpful friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Will definitely stay here again. Dinner in Hulshers was delicious not at all like a hotel restaurant

  You can’t beat a better location, the staff are nice and friendly. They offer you a free coffee and croissant if you’re breakfast is not included as nice gesture. The restaurant has great food and friendly staff as well. The isolation is poor and you can hear the nearby sounds and upstairs foot moving not to mention the size of a standard room is really small. Room service is great they will keep your room neat

  We did not enjoy our stay. The staff was only mildly interested in being polite. The signage had us walking around the extensive block to find our way in due to construction. The construction was clearly priority over guest experience and even access to the lifts. The attempted decorations of the construction barriers we not attractive (weirdly colored cows?) And didn't fit any kind of hotel theme. Part of the bar looked old and could be cozy, if not for the staff. The new entry looked to maybe be modern when finished? The hallways were small and dark and didn't feel clean. This carried into the bedroom with old carpet, bare furnishings and very hollow floors. We heard most everything, and I'm certain people below us heard every step as well. We had prepaid our room, yet still decided to leave two days early. That, in itself, should explain our experience. Did we ask that anything be improved so they could make it right? No. Why? Construction, lack of staff warmth, hollow construction? What is there to request?
